Fonseca cigars was established in 1892 by Don Francisco E. Fonseca and soon became very popular due to not only using the finest tobacco leaves available, but also the innovative packaging with each cigar having a paper wrapping and then a tin foil tube.
Today, as a nod to tradition every cigar still has the paper wrapping. Every Fonseca cigar is described as "tripa larga, totalmente a mano" ie. long filler and handmade with leaf still sourced from the Vuelto Abajo region, they are known for their mild and distinctive flavour.
The Cadetes measures 4 1/2" in length and has a 36 ring gauge with a smoking time of around 25-30 minutes.
The Fonseca brand is a very good starting point for those wishing to explore the vast range of Cuban cigars, with their light and distinctive smoking characteristics.
