Established in London's Haymarket district Fribourg & Treyer soon became purveyors of tobacco products (especially snuff)) to the gentry. Royalty along with Lords, Earls, and (rumour has it) several Popes, all obtained their snuff from 34 The Haymarket.
The business ceased trading in the 1980s and from 2016 Wilsons of Sharrow now make their famous snuffs.
Seville snuff is light brown in colour, dryish, and has a fine grind. A pleasant orange aroma is accompanied by a fairly high nicotine hit.
