If you like your cigars big and bold, then look no further. Crafted by Hirochi Robaina, grandson of the legendary Alejandro, the HR Black Line Extra Toro is rolled at the La Corona factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, famous for the production of several boutique brands.
In 2010, the owner of La Corona, González-Alemán, persuaded Hirochi to produce a non-Cuban cigar honouring the Robaina legacy; three years later, the task was done, fast forward to today and HR now have a fantastic range available.
The powerhouse Black Line features a dark Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with an oily sheen and a robust character. The filler is a high-priming Nicaraguan Jalapa to add strength and depth of flavour; the binder is also from the Jalapa valley region and controls the cigar's burn.
Light up this 5 7/8" x 55 ring gauge beauty and you can see why it pulls no punches. Lasting for over 100 minutes this is a smoke for those who love full-bodied cigars. The leaf is chosen from top primings that have been carefully fermented and aged to give the blend its signature character and flavours.
They include coffee, leather, cedar, and spice, all combining to produce a creamy, complex, and evolving experience. Don't rush, it would be an insult to the effort employed to bring you this moment of pleasure.
Like enjoying a good wine, take your time and enjoy the journey.
